The ecological difference

Organic skin care, natural skin care, green and clean skin care. It may be words that are trending but it is also a category that is here to stay. There are some misconceptions and perhaps it is the lack of clear information that makes us actually want to dare to test a new product in this category. Actually strange considering that in food we clearly refrain from spraying products and look more and more in the organic direction. We hope we can provide some clarity by going over what organic skincare is and common misconceptions:

1. What is organic skin care?
Organic ingredients mean that they are grown according to organic principles, i.e. it is a cultivation method and that a certification body has certified it (eg COSMOS ). Advantages of organic ingredients are that the raw materials are "toxic-free" because they are not sprayed with toxins that may remain in the finished raw material. It also provides cleaner water because no toxins are released into nature and a richer animal and wildlife population.

Natural skin care is often confused with organic skin care. But then what really is the difference? Natural skin care means that ingredients are taken from nature but are not grown according to a specific method, while organic skin care has ingredients that are grown according to certain requirements. Natural skin care can therefore contain ingredients that are grown with "poisons".

Then there are ingredients that cannot be organic, eg water. Therefore, products that contain a lot of water cannot be 100% organic.

2. Organic skin care has no effect
That's not true. There is no research that proves that organic skin care cannot have an effect on fine lines, dry skin, glow, etc. Development is moving forward and many natural AHA acids, vitamin C and extracts from algae and herbs have been produced that can provide very good results in your organic skin care.

3. Organic skin care is not controlled or tested
All skin care sold in Sweden must be notified and follow the Medical Products Agency's guidelines . When you manufacture skin care in a factory in Sweden, you undergo various tests to ensure function and safety for the end consumer. This takes between 6-12 months for a product. In addition, the entire list of ingredients (INCI = list of ingredients) must be included on each product so that you can check which ingredients are in the product. For several years now, it is also not allowed to test cosmetics on animals, which of course we think is great!

An additional tip:

Check the proportion of organic and natural content on the product.

Organically labeled products must indicate what proportion of the total is of organic origin. The higher the percentage, the more organic content. In order for a product to be labeled as organic, it is actually only required that 10% of the total ingredients are of organic origin.

You want to know that what you are buying is actually as much as possible organic or natural if the product is called organic.
